Upper Pine
Fire has taken delivery of a heavy brush
fire engine designed for use in the Urban
Interface. The engine is equipped with a 500
gallon per minute, 2 stage pump which
increases its versatility as it can fight a
fast moving grass fire, pump larger volumes
of water in long hose lays or if necessary
make an attack on a house fire. It carries
600 gallons of water and 4 firefighters.
Another unique feature of the unit is the
front bumper mounted Sidewinder Nozzle. This
device allows firefighters to attack fast
moving fires from the safety of the cab. The
nozzle can move up and down, left and right
and change pattern from a fog to straight
stream. There are many other uses for this
device. A foam blanket can also be applied
from this and any other attack discharge.
This unit will be housed a Fire Station 1 in
Bayfield. The second unit scheduled for
delivery in late October will be housed at
Fire Station 2 in Vallecito. |
