Seasonal Wildland Firefighters

UPRFPD’s Wildland Division is now accepting applications for seasonal Wildland crew members to staff two engines (Type 3, type 6) for the 2022 Wildfire season. Crews can expect to provide initial attack within the district and provide resources to our neighboring mutual aid partners, including the USFS, CO State, BLM, Durango Fire, and Los Pinos.

Wildland crews will also engage in several projects completing defensible space mitigation within our district, which will require heavy chainsaw work, chipping, and slash pile burning. New hires must be prepared to leave home for long periods of time while fighting fires on regional and national assignments. Hourly rates range from $18.00 to $25.00/hr.

Qualifications:
FFT2 (Firefighter Type 2)

FFT1/ICT5 (Firefighter Type 1/Incident Commander Type 5)

ENGB (Engine Boss)

*Those with S-212, EMT-B will receive favorable consideration

Applicants must have a current driver’s license and the ability to pass a drug screening and physical. Seasonal hires can expect to work 40 hours per week. Overtime will be expected throughout the fire season.
